The Defenders are a group of Vermonters that have a love for hockey and a greater love for giving back to the community. A majority of the team are members of the Vermont National Guard either past, current, or future. Together we have played in charity hockey games all over New England for almost two decades.
The mission of the Vermont Law Enforcement Hockey Charities organization is to provide non-profit organizations from the Vermont and greater New England are funds so that they can foster the positive healthy growth of our youths and community at large. We are comprised of State, local, and federal law enforcement officers as well as military veterans.
In addition to the annual charity game between the Defenders and Enforcers, The two teams have also joined forces and squared off against the Boston Bruins Alumni team on multiple occasions raising well over $30,000 in charitable donations benefiting both Make-A-Wish and Camp Ta-Kum-Ta.
No member of the Vermont Law Enforcement Hockey Charities or Green Mountain Boy Defenders will receive any financial remuneration for their efforts.
